Self Assessment Tax Deadline Extended Due to HMRC Strikes

by admin

Self employed workers will be one of many groups who will benefit from the extended self assessment tax deadline. The original deadline of the 31st January has been moved to the 2nd February, largely down to HMRC workers’ planned strike, which happens to fall on the deadline at the end of the month. HMRC have said that this will allow any tax payers who are unable to get through to HMRC’s call centres on the 31st an extra couple of days, with no penalties providing all tax returns are in by the 2nd February. Tax returns are always a hassle for self employed workers, who must ensure that all records are correct to avoid a penalty, and so many opt to employ the help of limited company accountants, who usually take on this task as part of their service. As well as ensuring that records are accurate, these accountants will also ensure that they are in before the deadline, avoiding any last minute worries.
